You’d think by now . . .

. . . I’d be prepared for anything with these kids, apparently not.

On the heels of 2 awesome soccer games in which both Lucas and Tommy scored goals (yeah, they rock!), we make our way to Pepz for a pizza party. It started out nicely, Eli was a little whiny kept saying his tummy hurt one second, and the next he’d be jumping around playing so I thought nothing of it. Until he ran up to me holding his throat like he was choking and yelled MOMMMMYYYYYYYY!!!!  I bet you can guess what followed . . . yup!

Projectile Puking at the Pepz Pizza Party. ALL OVER THE FLOOR, TWICE INSIDE, TWICE OUTSIDE.

I was frozen and really didn’t know what to do so I grabbed my purse, grabbed the baby, Ruben ran outside with Eli and I excused myself by saying “Yep, that’s MY kid. I’m running away now totally embarrassed.  (wave) bye.”

It reminded me of the movie Stand By Me, remember the pie eating contest? All of the other kid were like “EWWWWWW, GROSS” pointing and gesturing to the vomit on the ground.  “Dude! Your little brother just PUKED all over the place”

Total embarrassment, I felt worse for Eli I think he’s probably going to come out of it unharmed as he’s only 3.  Good thing it wasn’t Tommy, Not sure that he’d live that down.

Dreams.

When I dream, I dream big.  Maybe that is what stops me from acting on my dreams, I complicate them so much that I get overwhelmed and scrap the ideas all together.

I could just scream, cry and throw a huge tantrum right now!  I am so very angry with myself because, I did it again and totally passed up another one of my dreams. It really was a fabulous one, but, I didn’t for some stupid reason have the gumption to see it to fruition. Then, today I walked in to Elias’ school and was slapped in the face with my dream, and yup someone else had it too.  That’s where I am not a fool, I realize my ideas may not be all be unique, but had I just acted on this one, I would have been first to market in OC, NOT THEM!  At the time that I started developing this idea (over a year ago), there were only 2 companies in California doing it to some capacity, but not with all of my facets.

Here was my dream.  It’s founded on the idea(s) of how horrible our hot school lunch system is, how obese we are as a nation, how much we need to support our local economy AND have you ever seen how much WASTE there in in an average child’s lunchbox??

So there it is folks my ROUGH scratch paper dream.  At least I wrote it down this time.

Salsa, verde style!

What Goes Into it?

10-20 Tomatillos (they look like green tomato with husks)
3-7 Jalapeño’s
A couple palm-fulls of salt

Serves: 8

How Do I Make It?

Soak the Tomatillos for 5 minutes to soften husks, remove the husks and cut into halves or quarters if they are large. Put them in a large pot and turn on fire to low.  Leave them until they turn soupy and the skins are tender.
Roast the Jalapeño’s over low heat for 1-2 hours, the blacker they get the better (*side note: the air can get spicy smelling and will burn some people’s eyes so you may need to do it outside).
Put the Jalapeño’s (whole) into the blender (removing the stem) and puree.  Remove the majority from blender and set aside.
Add the cooked Tomatillos to the blender and pulse adding in more Jalapeño’s to taste.
Start with one to two palms of salt and pulse tasting before adding more salt.  This is one of the most important ingredients if the salsa doesn’t taste like salsa, keep adding more salt very slowly so it’s not over done.
Refrigerate until cold and serve on everything!

[…] Salsa Verde or 1 large can green chili sauce […]

Great find today.

Happened upon these cool drawer pulls today while frantically hunting for a lost child in the store.  They were only 1 buck each.  This will go nicely toward the slow transition to big girl room for Ruby.  The very old dresser got a little spunk.

I found these at Michael’s Craft store! It was before the holiday’s so they might not be around anymore.

This is how we get our thanks.

Being a Mom, we really don’t get much in the way of Thanks, Thank you’s, or even you’re a great mom.  So when your Son comes home from school with a paper titled “THE BEST SUMMER EVER” it makes ya feel pretty great.  Especially when you worked your hiney off to make it great. I have so much I want to share from summer and I am working on a post for it. I’ll get it up soon.
